I am a stay-at-home mom and freelance writer for BrainPOP.com.

Look for new lessons and activity sheets to be posted Spring 2008 at BrainPOP!

I taught science for 8 years, first as a public school teacher, then as a private school teacher.  This website is a collection of my lesson plans for teaching science for 6th and 7th grade.  I decided to become a stay at home mom in 2004 and plan to return to teaching once my four boys are in school full time, which won't be for quite a while!  In the meantime, I will still run this site and keep it updated and hopefully, add new lessons.

I originally created this web page as a resource for my students.  The idea was for them to have a place to check homework assignments, print out handouts at home, and visit safe links.  The kids loved it, I was the only teacher in my school that had a web page and it was just for them.  Since then, I have received email from all over the world, other teachers were using my page as a resource for lesson plans.  What a compliment!

Since starting this site in September 1997, I have changed addresses quite a bit.  I finally decided to make a permanent home and register the domain name "middleschoolscience.com"  in 2000.  Middle school science is a delicate balance of trying to teach scientific concepts without being too "elementary" or too "high school".  I hope this web page can give you some ideas to use in your classroom.
